Johnson Stokes & Master (JSM) was named “Pro Bono Team of the Year” for its impactful pro bono projects in 2022. These projects include:
- Developing a guide and mobile app for UNHCR to promote access to education for refugees and asylum seeker students in Hong Kong. It is the first guide of its kind for Hong Kong’s refugee and asylum seeker communities.
- Launching a legal inspiration programme for students from all walks of life with Hong Kong Scholars to pursue higher education and foster upward mobility, designed to expose the students to the legal profession and inspire them about the role of lawyers in society.
- Supporting Beneficial Returns, a social impact investment fund, by drafting the facility and guarantee agreements for a loan to a social enterprise in the coconut business in the Philippines. The loan created jobs and promoted the use of organic farming techniques.
The annual IFLR Asia Pacific Awards celebrate the most innovative cross-border deals from Asia and the lawyers behind and recognises powerful programmes in areas such as pro bono and net-zero transition.
