Our partner Tom Fu recently shared some comments with Wen Wei Po on Hong Kong’s role in supporting Mainland enterprises as they expand into international markets.
Tom highlighted the close ties Hong Kong has with the Chinese Mainland market, which operates under the common law system, and has an international and bilingual pool of legal and professional services talent. This enables Hong Kong to play a bridging role, connecting Mainland enterprises with international markets in terms of legal frameworks, capital and professional services.
He also mentioned that the HKSAR Government is taking a more proactive approach in bringing Hong Kong’s legal services to the forefront of Mainland enterprises’ “going global” efforts, enabling companies to make effective use of Hong Kong’s legal, arbitration and mediation services from the early stages of investment and transactions.
