Our Commercial Managing Partner Hannah Ha took to the stage at the Greater Bay Area (GBA) Global Business Expansion Summit — spearheaded by Standard Chartered Bank and organised by Television Broadcasts Limited. Speaking on the panel titled "Building the Right Resources for Overseas Expansion", Hannah shared practical, experience-backed insights on navigating the operational and legal challenges of international expansion, alongside other distinguished panellists.
The summit brought together approximately 300 business leaders and corporate representatives. Notably, 80% of the attendees were GBA-based enterprise founders or top executives (CEO level), half of whom represented medium-sized enterprises with strong international expansion needs. Furthermore, at least 20% of the participating companies are deeply engaged in the fast-growing e-commerce sector, underscoring the urgent demand for global expansion within the core GBA business community.
Drawing on her deep experience advising companies on international expansion and "go global" strategies, Hannah made the case that sustainable overseas growth is built on a proactive approach to risk management and access to the right professional expertise — not left to chance.
Hannah also explored what it takes to build true business resilience when entering new markets — covering intellectual property protection, insurance coverage, transaction frameworks and supply chain management — alongside the critical importance of selecting the right market entry model from the outset.
She further highlighted Hong Kong's distinctive dual role as a "super-connector" and “super value-adder” — bridging the Greater Bay Area with global markets. With its world-class professional services ecosystem and unrivalled international connectivity, Hong Kong is uniquely positioned to support enterprises ready to take on international opportunities.
The summit offered a rich platform for knowledge sharing, high-level networking and substantive discussion on what it truly takes to grow a business on the global stage.
